Use it or Lose it!

In answering the question who should exercise, the most obvious answer comes to mind; everyone. Seriously folks, aside from a few exceptions everyone can benefit from exercise and becoming physically fit. The advantages are shared equally by the young, the mature and the very mature. I won’t use the term old cause that’s just a state of mind. Matter of fact there are some older physically fit people who have a “real age” much younger than their unfit counter parts. Let’s face it, exercise makes you young. Inactivity is without a doubt the culprit in the fitness formula for all ages. The natural, unavoidable decline in our bodily physical abilities is sped up by inactivity. Exercise stops the aging process and it becomes more, not less, important in the later years to animate the physical systems of the body to resist the deterioration that comes with inactivity. Remember, the universal rule of the body for all ages is ‘use it or lose it’. So if you want to extend your ability to live independently and not be a burden to yourself or others, exercise. It’s what’s up!
Happy Results!

  1. With the day to day demands of life, I find myself not finding the time to make it to the gym, As a result, I have consciously adopted a more active lifestyle which I try to implement daily. Instead of taking the elevator at work, I walk up the stairs, I walk to the various places I need to go to, and occasionally I rollerblade. I think these change of lifestyle coupled with a healthier eating habit helps me maintain my weight

  2. Thanks for the comment Ms. David. The rigorous demands of life are what keep a lot of people from adopting a healthy lifestyle and exercise regimen. Your tips on staying fit when pressed for time are terrific. Just exchanging one daily habit for a more healthier one can make a huge difference. Like you said, walking instead of riding or even switching your daily bagel for oatmeal or bran cereal three times a week can make a huge difference. I hope all who read this blog will follow your lead. Well done. Many happy results.

  3. As busy as we all get I think its important to take time to take care of our bodies. Whether it be working out or changing some habits we need to take care our bodies. I agree with ms. david too. If you cannot make it to the gym you can still maintain a healthy lifestyle and I think alot of us live in this fast food society when really its very easy to live and eat healthy.

  5. I think with the obesity rates in this country it is slowly becoming clear to everyone that "fast food" is NOT the answer. When I say "use it or lose it". "Lose it" can easily be ascribed to losing your life as well as losing the chance to live healthy. With all the diseases that come with not living healthy, we can not afford to let our bodies go to waste. Also, in this time of swine flu and high medical insurance premiums, now is the time to eat healthy and exercise to preserve and strenghten our immune system. A healthy body fights sickness better. Listen, I know an older lady who is 74 years old and in excellent physical and mental condition. As long as I've known her she has not been sick. She exercises daily and juices weekly. Because of her I began juicing fresh vegetables and fruits as well. She has shown me what a fit older person looks like and I want to look like that when I'm older. She is the epitome of my "healthy body healthy mind" motto.
